Incremental search undesired behavior: input field losing focus on mismatch

I usually have incremental-search enabled. When typing a phrase, I see matches immediately, but it takes a single typo for the input field to disappear and to get the message Pattern not found. Normally, e.g., in Vim, I would just hit backsapce to correct my search phrase. With Zathura I have to invoke the search mode again. Even worse, I cannot use search history - after invoking search (with /) and asking for the previous pattern (with ctrl-p or up), I immediately get the same Pattern not found. So I have no choice but to type the entire phrase anew. Could I have missed something in the config options? If not, could this behavior be changed in future versions so that focus stays with the search field even if no matches found? Using zathura version 0.4.6.
