Window title is not shown at the top of the window

On my Fedora 30 system with Gnome 3.32.2 window titlebars are always empty, though the title can be seen in the activities overview, correctly formatted according to the options. This happens both with and without the zathurarc file, and when options are set in the command line: window titlebars remain empty.
